Reel Electric Charter Boat | Westport, WA

The FV Reel Electric is a 35’x11’ fishing charter boat (42’-3” from tip to stern) constructed in 2018 in Marysville, WA. It is equipped with 2-350 hp outboard Suzuki engines and a 25hp kicker, making it suitable for the open ocean. The boat features Electric Reels for Halibut and Deepwater fishing, Downriggers for deep trolling Kings, Garmin electronics and modern safety equipment, offering a comfortable, dry, and warm ride to and from the fishing grounds. The Reel Electric has a life raft for everyone on board, and is a member of the Westport Charterboat Association, and is eligible to enter the derby. The primary aim of the FV Reel Electric is to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and successful fishing experience while providing the opportunity to catch fish and enjoy the bounty offered by the Pacific Ocean. The Reel Electric offers Albacore Tuna Fly Fishing trips and targeted Black Cod (Sablefish) trips on request, these trips will not be on the schedule and are 4 person minimum to start.

From the office to the boat captain and deckhands this a first class operation. Having fished on the Slammer, Hot Pursuit and Gold Rush. Book early as they fill up quickly. Enjoyed every trip and look forward to many more trips. The $20 Veteran discount is another plus.

Great Experience. Facilities were good. The Captain was informative and courteous in explaining. The boat crew was fabulous. Very attentive and helpful with baiting the hook and netting the fish. Great time.

Amazing trio out with my teen daughter. Skipped and deck hand were super helpful and fun/interactive. Also, very patient with us as this was our first chatter fishing experience. Everyone (that stayed upright) on the boat caught their limits plus some for the crew! Amazing experience and can’t wait to go out again!

Gold Rush was great, Ben and Aardvark were fantastic. Everything was taken care of. They even moved the boat to watch Humpback Whales breaching and slapping the water. Everyone (except me) limited out quickly. All of my kids and wife out fished me! The Captain (Ben) and Deckhand (Aardvark) were running around the boat helping everyone and telling stories. We will be going again.

Dave and Christian were the perfect dynamic duo. Halibut were a little slow starting out but that secret ling cod hole was something special. They were both on point with the rotation keeping people in fish and went above and beyond helping my 14 year old daughter. At first I was skeptical with the rotation and her being several people away from my side but Dave or Christin were with the the whole time. Words can’t describe there customer service. I will be taking another trip with the both of them as soon as I can get some more time off.

Best charter I’ve ever been on. Everyone limited out on halibut and lings With a few bonus fish. Big shout out to captain Dave for keeping us on fish and to Christian for being a great deckhand. 10/10 experience will be back again.

We fished on the Stardust with Captain John and mate Colton.we booked four people and caught some big rockfish and couple lingcod.The weather was rough and we were the only four booked for the day.Despite the pricey gas rates, Captain John still sailed, putting us on some great fishing experiences. Their professionalism showed immediately as we all were all able to grab our limits of rockfish.the lingcod were less aggressive while we were out, but still leaving with two was quite the bounty. Thanks again for the great work and friendly service.

Mutineer Charters is the #1 Best I have ever experienced. Captain Ben and Deck hand Paul on the boat GOLD RUSH quickly became friends of mine and my ten year old son. They expertly taught us how to catch our own giant size ling cod. They were patient, professional, fun, ect. I will book with no one else if they are available. They made my son's first time on the salt magical and a wonderful memory for us both. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

The Slammer took us out even though there were only 3 people booked. I took my father in law who had an excellent experience. Unfortunately I got sea sick and missed most the action, but I truely appreciated the fact that the boat even went out with only 3. If I decided to go out again, it would be with the slammer.

Had a great time fishing for bottom fish on the Slammer out of Mutineer charters. We started with rock fish which did not take long to get the boats limit of 7 fish each. The skipper actually dropped the anchor to fish this spot which something that I have not seen on the ocean. We used live bait (anchovies) which kind of surprised me, but it was effective. We used light gear with 10 lb test line which was really a hoot. From there we moved a short distance and fished for flounder. These fish were small, but we were motivated because the flounders were to be the bait for our true target, which was ling cod. After the flounder we moved to another spot in deeper water to fish for ling cod. This spot was in deeper water so we couldn't anchor but the skipper did a great job of keeping us over the fish. We limited out with 2 nice size ling cods per person and a few extras for the crew. The deckhand did a great job keeping us rigged up and baited. He also filleted all the fish for a good price. The only downer was my mistake. I like to follow the track of the boat using my phone and a marine map. Apparently, this is a huge no no. They are concerned with people stealing their spots. I totally understood the skippers concern, so I turned off my phone and put it away. As angry as he got, I'd think he would put up a sign or something telling folks that gps tracking is verboten. Or maybe something in the terms and conditions. I would definitely go bottom fishing on this boat again. The skipper has good knowledge and boat skills. If there are bottom fish to be had, he will put you on them.

The Gold Rush experience was awesome! The entire crew was punctual, very knowledgeable, and particularly patient. Having never fished in the ocean before, the deckhands “Aardvark” and “Peaches” (clearly not their real names) went above and beyond frequently untangling my line until I finally got the hang of it. When my husband got wicked seasick, they were compassionate and understanding. Peaches was like a spider monkey constantly moving around the boat and never slowing down. Aardvark was all smiles and was very willing to share his knowledge, and with him around, I never once had to bait my hook. The deckhands even cleaned and filleted the fish while it was underway so when we got back to the dock there was no waiting around. We didn’t have a stellar catch - but that wasn’t on them at all, it was simply because the fish didn’t feel like biting that day, but the captain kept moving us around to try and find good hidey holes. I’d go back aboard Gold Rush any day!

Went out with Colby on Real Electric had a great time limited and back at the dock by 11:30. Colby was on the fish right away, he had no deck hand and kept everything going great guy. I will be back.

Everything was first rate…from booking, communications, the boat (Slammer), skipper, deck hands. Caught our limit and back in by noon. Wow! I have fished with the Slammer before. This time I took two of my grandsons (16 and 11) out for their first trip. They caught a lot of fish, the deck hands were great with them. They had such a good time they want to go with me again. I gave my grands two rules - don’t fall overboard and don’t puke on grandma. Good thing they followed the rules! No puking at all! Lol

I brought my son all the way to fish with the Reel Electric through Mutineer Charters for a combo Salmon/ Rockfish charter. What a great experience with Capt’n Colby at the helm. Colby was playing double duty as captain and first mate and things went without a hitch. He made sure everyone the boat was comfortable and having a great time. My son, three fiends and I went Salmon fishing out on the HOT Pursuit today. The Captain and the deck hand, who is the Captain's daughter did an awesome job today. The boat limited in about 2 hours and the crew handled it prefectly. They took time to make sure everyone had what they needed to be successfully and enjoy a day of fish. I will be recommended them to my friends in the future.

Great experience with Skipper John and deckhand, Dalton, on Stardust. Great crew and very helpful. Took my family on their first charter boat fishing for combo. They loved the nonstop action of the rockfish and the fight of the salmon. They even got to see and (inadvertently) catch shark which was pretty awesome for my 10 year old nephew. Would recommend this boat and crew. We limited by 1230. Make sure you layer up as it is cold and can be windy in the AM and hot in the afternoon. The seas were rough in the morning so take medicine if you are prone to motion sickness!

My son and I went out on the Slammer, what a great time. Our deck hand Brodie was amazing and if we go again we hope he is still there. Easy to reserve but do it early in the season, they will fill up. Best to stay in a hotel in walking distance. Go the night before and be ready to get up early, be on boat by 0530. June was nice because weather was nice. We caught the limit on Bass and Lin-cod was fun to fish. Tip Brodie well he works hard. Thanks guys for something to remember.

Mutineer charters was exceptional. I have had half -a- dozen charters in may past. This was the best. Check in was very easy, the crew was very helpful, the Skipper was on target for fishing. We limited the boat of 20+ in less than 3.5 hours. He was excellent at steerage keeping the boat as stable as possible and the run home was very smooth. The crew was very good at fileting with minimal waste. Will use again!!

Wow-what a Fantastic day we had on the Slammer!! Capt. Rhett seriously knows his stuff (I’m pretty sure he’s a fish whisperer, cause we were always on fish), He & his Excellent Crew took care of our large group (some who knew what they were doing and many who did not) with ease. We happened to hit some pretty rough water, as the winds unexpectedly came up, but still we almost all came home with our limit of fish. Thank you, Mutineer Charters, for a wonderful day of exciting Fishing and a freezer full of Good Eats!! We’ll be back!

Nick Clayton

Nick brings 41 years of fishing experience to every trip aboard the Reel Electric. He's spent the bulk of his adult life working on the water — including 6 years of commercial fishing in the Bering Sea and chasing albacore out of Westport, and 10 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard working on submarines and aircraft carriers.

For the past 10 years Nick has been firmly rooted in Westport's charter industry — the first 3 as a deckhand, and the last 7 as captain. He is a member of the Westport Charterboat Association and is fully licensed to operate in Pacific coastal waters.

While Nick loves all forms of fishing, saltwater fly fishing is his true passion — he's been fly fishing and tying for 31 years, with the last 17 focused exclusively on saltwater. Safety is always his number one priority, and he is committed to making every trip aboard the Reel Electric a fun, safe, and truly memorable experience.
